The nylon is way softer than the stiff elastic ones I've tried, and it doesn't dig into my daughter's head at all. She wore one through a whole nap and there wasn't a single red mark when I took it off.
These actually stay put on my 6-month-old without squeezing her head, and no red marks when I take it off. The nylon is soft enough that she forgets it's there, which is saying something since she yanks at everything now.
